Low profile does not automatically mean zero-clearance compatible. Do not remove legs or structural bed parts simply because a base appears to fit.
Four measurements worth bringing
- Interior width and length: measure between the closest points, including brackets and corner blocks.
- Support height and depth: record the floor-to-support measurement and any rails that project inward.
- Obstructions: note drawers, crossbars, center legs, storage lifts and the route for power cables.
- Moving clearance and capacity: compare the base manual with the frame’s rating and the total supported load.
Use the base’s outside dimensions, not only the mattress size name. Keep hands, pets, bedding and stored items away from moving parts, and follow the owner’s manual.

An open decorative surround may leave room for a base standing on its own legs. A platform may suit a zero-clearance model when its support and capacity also meet the instructions. Neither arrangement is confirmed by appearance alone.

Plan around the BedTech BT6500
Fixed crossbars, storage drawers and lift mechanisms can obstruct a moving deck or its motors. Do not cut or remove structural pieces without the bed manufacturer’s approval. When compatibility cannot be verified, consider a different installation or a different base.

Keep your headboard, with the right hardware
A headboard can remain attached to a compatible surrounding frame. Attaching it directly to a powered base may require model-specific brackets. Check the available hardware, fasteners and movement clearance; mounting holes that look close are not proof of a safe fit.
Confirm the mattress can move
A frame fit does not prove the mattress can articulate. Confirm the mattress model and size, plus whether you need a one-piece, fully split or split-head configuration.

Features come after the fit
