What research says about a cooler pillow

In a 1996 study comparing two pillows, all participants rated a pillow with a special cool medium as better for deeper sleep than a polyester-filled pillow. The finding concerned that specific design and test conditions, not every cooling pillow.

Cooling pillow questions, answered.

Are all cooling pillows the same?
No. Compare the specified cover, fill and construction for each model. Read what to look for in a cooling pillow before you compare, because a cooling cover, a gel-infused core and a phase-change fabric are different constructions the makers describe in their own words.
How do I choose the right profile?
A profile describes the height of the pillow and a size its footprint, so the two are chosen together. Where a model offers profiles, such as ProLo and ProHi on the TEMPUR-Breeze or Low, Mid and High Loft on the Malouf Ice Cloud, the product page lists each option by name. Read how to choose a pillow for the questions to ask, or compare the options in a showroom.
Can I wash the cover and fill?
Follow the manufacturer’s care label; washing and drying instructions have not been provided here. A removable or washable cover does not mean the fill can be washed, so read the label for the cover and the fill separately. See how to wash pillows for the general steps, and for a specific model contact our team.
What are the return conditions?
Return terms depend on the item and on the policy that applies to it. Pillows are personal items, so read the returns policy for the conditions that apply to your order before you buy. The 120-night comfort exchange covers eligible mattresses, not pillows or other accessories.
