Unlike uniform coil systems where every coil has the same gauge, Back Supporter uses targeted zoning. The center third of the mattress — where lumbar pressure concentrates — gets reinforced coils for enhanced support. The shoulder and leg zones use more responsive coils for pressure relief and freedom of movement. This zoned approach is what Spring Air has been refining since introducing their "Health Center" zoned mattress in 1953. Each coil is individually wrapped for motion isolation.
