Pressure relief research has a specific context.

A nursing-home trial compared cold foam with a static air overlay for preventing pressure ulcers. It did not test these retail mattresses or establish that softer beds are better.

Soft mattress questions, answered.

Is softer always better?
Compare cushioning, support and ease of movement. Your preferred feel may differ between models.
Soft or medium?
They are different feel labels, and labels vary by brand. Compare Medium mattresses beside your soft shortlist in your usual position, and notice how easily you turn on each one.
Does pillow top mean soft?
Not always. Pillow top describes a construction feature, not a fixed feel. Judge the whole mattress and the stated feel of the exact model.
Which base works?
Check the mattress maker's support requirements for the exact model. Compare bases and foundations or adjustable bases, then ask us to confirm the pairing.
What does the exchange cover?
One same-size comfort exchange is available after at least 30 nights and within 120 nights of delivery. There is no exchange fee. Bring the mattress back and pick up the replacement yourself at no charge, or choose pickup and redelivery by our team for $100 total. Pay any increase for a higher-priced replacement; there is no refund of the difference for a lower-priced one. Existing exclusions apply. It is not an unconditional refund.
